And we’re off!

We’ve now had two rehearsals on our new music, and while it’s never perfect to start off with, I think Ben is probably pretty pleased with the progress we’re making. More importantly, we’re all excited to be back together rehearsing once again. It was really cool to come into our first rehearsal back last week and see so many smiling faces; we’ve definitely got a group that enjoys singing and hanging out together, and that cohesion is what’s made this choir so special.

Unfortunately, we have had to say goodbye to several of our friends. Patrick Jones got a job in Minnesota and is moving there in a couple weeks. Alex Chilsen also is newly employed out on a boat somewhere, and David Lancelle moved to Chicago for the next chapter of his life. We’ll miss those guys a lot, for sure. But on the bright side, we’ve got several new members who have joined us in the first couple rehearsals, and possibly more on the way. Be sure to check out the choir roster within the next couple of weeks once we’ve officially updated it.

Now is also a good time for us to extend our gratitude to Memorial United Methodist Church in Greenfield. This fall, Memorial United was gracious enough to offer us their space for rehearsals every week. Conflicts with their scheduling this spring made it necessary for us to find another home, but we are truly grateful to everyone at that church for giving us our first home and for allowing us to use their sanctuary for rehearsal space.

We are also excited to have a new rehearsal space starting next week — Greendale Community Church has offered us their space for our weekly rehearsals, and we are excited to get in there, see the space and begin filling it with music.

So as you can see, lots of stuff happening with Chant Claire. Keep an eye out in the next couple weeks for an official announcement of our concert date. Right now we’re looking at sometime over the weekend of May 16th-18th, but it depends on facility (and choir member) availability. More to come on that later, as well as a full list of our Spring concert repertoire!
