We’re just under two months away from our December concert, and with a month and a half’s worth of rehearsals under our belts, the music is definitely coming along nicely. And that’s definitely a good thing, because we have our first performance of the season coming up on November 8th in Delavan.
We were honored to be invited by the UCC Congregational Church in Delavan to perform at its 175th anniversary celebration. What a milestone–this church was founded before Wisconsin was even officially a state! The church has already posted a nice writeup about our group on its website. We are excited not only for the opportunity to perform, but also for the chance to take our music to a new area. This is the first time as a group we will have a performance outside of Milwaukee, which is definitely a big step for us. The executive board has had conversations about someday doing choir tours in other cities and eventually other states or even other countries, so this is a great first step.
If you’re wondering what we’re singing this fall, here’s a list of our repertoire:
William Billings – “Shiloh”
Peter Cornelius – “Three Kings from Persian Lands Afar”
David Downes (arrangement) – “The Rocky Road to Dublin” (Men only)
Michael Engelhardt – “Gaudete”
Fleet Foxes – “White Winter Hymnal” (Men only)
Gesius/J.S. Bach – “In Dulci Jubilo”
Ola Gjeilo – “Unicornis Captivatur”
