Chant Claire Chamber Choir was founded in Fall of 2013 by Benjamin Bedroske, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music education program. Ben’s experience with the Eau Claire Statesmen and his love of choral music inspired him to create a group to help provide talented singers with an opportunity to keep their skills sharp with rigorous choral repertoire and perform for Milwaukee audiences. The name derives from the Eau Claire origins of many of the choir’s members. In french, “chant claire” translates to “clear song.”
The group began rehearsing in September 2013, and performed its first concert in December 2013. Today we continue to have one large solo concert each fall and spring, and have been pleased to have the opportunity to perform collaborative concerts with such groups as the Milwaukee Youth Chorale, the UW-Eau Claire Concert Choir, and our upcoming collaboration with Skylight Music Theatre, Danceworks Inc., and Milwaukee Opera Theatre for a unique production of Carmina Burana. In 2017, we were selected to participate in a workshop with lauded choral composer Eric Whitacre at St. Josaphat Basilica.
