About Chant Claire
Chant Claire | French for “clear song” | was founded in the fall of 2013 by Ben Bedroske with the intent to explore rigorous and thoughtful choral repertoire with singers and audiences throughout the Milwaukee area.
We began as Chant Claire Chamber Choir in the beginning, though now we’ve grown out of being able to call ourselves a chamber choir. With an ensemble of over 70 singers, Chant Claire aims to combine the power of a large choir with the clarity of a chamber ensemble.
Collaborations
Milwaukee Opera Theatre | Danceworks | Marian Consort | Aperi Animam | Skylight Music Theatre | Alverno College Choir | Milwaukee Children’s Choir | UW-Eau Claire Concert Choir | & several area high school choirs
In 2017, Chant Claire was selected by composer Eric Whitacre to participate in a masterclass at the Basilica of St. Josaphat.
Our mission is to create authentic music in an authentic community. Not only are we striving to create some of Milwaukee’s greatest choral performances, we challenge the group to grow in deeper relationships through our music.
Here is how some of our choir members describe their experience:
A community that works to support each other (not only musically, working towards a common obvious goal) but also in life! The group is energetic, welcoming, accepting, helpful, friendly, creative, hilarious, hard-working, inspiring. - Danielle, soprano
Our community: like-minded individuals together to make music and to share with the rest of the community the power and message through the human singing voice. - Veronica, alto
